Lol, in my copy, I have the 2nd passage you quoted underlined- I did it on my third read. I agree that I was irritated when I first read it because I just wanted to see what would come next- but in re-reading, the language is beautiful. I tried to listen to this on audiobook once and had to stop because the language was just too much...then I got the book in the mail. Its in the TBR pile, but I have yet to pick it up. I read a borrowed copy as well, though from a friend rather than a library. Probably I will end up buying it — I can see myself re-reading this often.

I read this book in January and LOVED it! The storytelling blew me away!! I'm so glad you liked it. It's definitely on my list of faves for this year! I have to agree with you on all counts–there were times when I felt like I was just wading through the prose so I could get on with the plot because it was THAT GOOD and I was dying to know what would happen. (Also, I may or may not have literally clapped my hands and gasped when I saw that you reviewed this book, because I loved it so much.)
