About me:

I’m Christine. I’m a twenty-something English Major and semi-colon enthusiast. I read compulsively, and with great enjoyment. Books are my passion; cataloguing is my crack. Some of my other interests include crochet, eating chocolate ice cream, and teaching myself to play the piano.

When I grow up, I want to be a librarian. Or maybe an elephant.

About this site:

I’ve been blogging in a desultory fashion since 2003. I started as LostOverTheWaterfall on Xanga, before becoming SadOatcakes on Blogger. The I started talking about books as SheReadsBooks on a free wordpress.com blog. Now I’m here on my own domain, still doing the same.

This blog was started in early February of 2008. There are a few posts which date back further than that; these were brought over from my blogger-blog as they are relevant to the sort of things I talk about here. I migrated from wordpress.com to shereadsbooks.org in August 2008.

I read books. Then I say things about them. Hear me roar.

Authors, Publishers, Publicists, and Sundry:

If you send me a book, I may or may not review it, and that review may or may not be positive at my sole discretion. Generally speaking, I have stopped accepting books for review. If you think that your book is super fantastic and you want to send it to me on the off-chance that I’ll get to it, you may contact me at sadoatcakes [at] gmail [dot] com for more information. If you already have my address and want to keep sending me things you may do as you wish, but I will make no guarantees.

Books marked for review will be inserted into my school/pleasure reading at a point where they seem to fit.

Privacy Stuff:

If you want to leave a comment you’ll notice that you’re asked for a valid email address. I will never give that email address to anyone else, for profit or pleasure, without your specific individual permission. To do otherwise would be reprehensible. I may use your email address solely to reply to a comment that you’ve written, if for some reason I do not wish to reply in public. That is all.

The books I review come from a variety of sources. Some come from the library. Many I own. And some are sent to me by authors and publicists. I do not receive any remuneration when I write reviews for books sent to me, apart from having the option of keeping the books afterwards.
